UNITED METHODIST MEN
Okay FUMC Men if you have been thinking about joining our group or just thinking about attending for the fellowship, we are ready for you. We meet the second Sunday of every month and enjoy food, book study, and fellowship.
The fellowship hall is our meeting place and what we do there at each meeting is very informal. They even let me come back time and again in my flip flops, cargo shorts, and Longhorn shirts. So dress does not have a code in our meetings.
But on a little more serious note, we do enjoy one another’s company while we pour through some very meaningful and thought provoking reads. Our study now is John Ortberg's: "Everybody's Normal Till You Get To Know Them" book. John Ortberg is a wonderful Christian author. I look forward to reading the words of this great Christian.
As far as projects, we have a booth for two days at the Pow Wow in September where we cook and serve breakfast on Saturday and serve tea during the day.
Much like our meetings, our gatherings for Christian service projects are extremely rewarding and we would love to have anyone join in and become a part. We also do a project each year for the Super Bowl with a Chili Luncheon on the Sunday of the “Big Game”. You probably don’t need to get your Cowboy gear out for that one!
Currently our financial situation is in great shape due to another great year of serving breakfast and iced tea at the Pow Wow. And as usual we are once again excited about using those funds to help out with the Wesley Foundation Worship Center on the campus of Tarleton State University. We also enjoy giving to Santa’s Helpers and our Youth as they prepare for their annual Mission Trip.
Few undertakings are any more rewarding than being a part of a dedicated group of men that share in the joy of fellowship with one another and the labors of love that promote the same kind of love for others that Jesus Christ has given to us.
If you would like to join our group, your presence would be genuinely welcomed.
If you cannot attend, we ask for your prayers to strengthen our group through
the love of Christ.
